United Way offers help and hope to one in two people living in our area.

Thanks to the generous support of the people in Niagara, United Way is helping each and every year, all year long. United Way funds over 50 high-quality programs that achieve dramatic results on high-priority needs such as list your service areas, link to descriptions.

There are lots of great reasons to support our United Way through volunteering and/or contributing:

Local

When you give to our United Way, your gift goes far, but not far away. Your donation is invested where you live and work -- Towns of Lewiston, Niagara, Porter, Wheatfield, Villages of Lewiston and Youngstown,  and the City of Niagara Falls.

 

Accountable

No program is funded until it is rigorously reviewed by trained volunteers. These volunteer experts evaluate health and human service programs and decide which are most vital and effective to ensure that your money is well spent.

Effective

The programs funded help people who want and need help. Some people learn to read, some become better parents. Still others are retrained with new job skills, escape from gang life, or build stronger and healthier families.

Efficient

Your contribution is invested wisely. More than 87 of every dollar collected goes directly to helping people.

United Way distributes contributions in many ways. The two most significant ways United Way distributes money is by funding agency programs, and by giving money to groups of organizations -- called Special Initiatives -- that are working together to improve whole neighborhoods or counties.
