United Way works to build and improve community by bringing together individuals in business, government, health, labor, education and human services, developing initiatives to address aspects of community need. We also work with partner agencies to make sure that the people in our communities have access to the services they need.

Initiatives

United Way acts as a catalyst to bring the community--business, labor, education, government, social services and individuals--together to address major problems through creative community initiatives:

~ Helping to feed the hungry..  United Way of Niagara partners with the National Association of Letter Carriers every year on the second Saturday in May to bring together the community in the largest single one day food drive in the world.  The generosity of those living in Western New York has been overwhelming!  For the past 4 years, our region has ranked NUMBER ONE in food collected!  Thanks Western New York.

~ We are working closely with our partners in Western New York to launch 211 for our community.  This new program will help alleviate the burden on the 911 system by providing information and referral, volunteer opportunities, and disaster/emergency systems for our community.  Look for this new service to begin in December of 2006!

Partners

United Way provides information and linkages for people who need help or want to volunteer, as well as training to strengthen agency staff skills and expertise:
  • County-Wide Helpline: A 24-hour, 7 day-a-week hotline that connects people with the help they need.
